Employer Identification Number (EIN) Requirement

NASTF requires a U.S. federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) or Canadian Business Number (BN) for registry compliance to properly conduct services. 


The term employer identification number (EIN) refers to a unique identifier that is assigned to a business entity so that it can easily be identified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). EINs are commonly used by employers for the purpose of reporting taxes. The number is made up of nine digits and is formatted as XX-XXXXXXX. Businesses can apply for EINs directly through the IRS, which usually issues them immediately.


Please update your NASTF account EIN field to reflect the businesses active 9-digit Federal Employer Identification Number.


United States:   EIN field must be populated with the businesses 9-digit Federal Tax Identification Number

Canada:  EIN field must contain Business Number


The following is not acceptable in the EIN field

  • Left blank
  • Contains letters
  • Does not list 9 digits
