Illinois Locksmith Permanent Employee Registration Card

New information we will be using when reviewing locksmiths from the State of Illinois.

It seems there is a rule in IL for employees of locksmith companies.

Going forward much like TX, MD, and CA an applicant VSP must provide proof that his is a registered locksmith in the state where he is operational by providing an Illinois Permanent Employee Card and/or if the applicant is the owner of the business proof that he and the business are both licensed.

Attached is a copy of the Illinois Permanent Employee Registration Card and a guidance memo from the state to LE.  There is mentioned about a ID with a photo that is required but that is issued by the company to supplement the IL Permanent Employee Registration Card.  We will not require a photo ID since we already require a copy of the DL, which can be used to confirm that the LS permanent employee card is current for the VSP applicant.

*****For all locksmiths in IL we will only accept a company license certificate if the name of the VSP applying is identified on the licensing document.

We will only approve an employee application if the applicant provides a copy of the locksmith permanent employee card.

NOTE:  An employee can register as a primary or a sub.

o   An employee applying for a primary account needs to provide a current bus doc and a copy of his locksmith permanent employee card.

    • An employee applying for a sub account needs only to provide a copy of his locksmith permanent employee card.  Does not hurt however, to review the primary VSP’s account to be sure they have submitted the correct documentation.
