Once the new Primary Account applicant clicks the link in their email and finishes multi-factor authentication, they will need to follow the next steps to submit documentation to complete the application.
Step 1: Agreeing to the program rules. Please read the user agreement, and if you agree, check the checkbox labeled "I understand that I am agreeing to the policies above and I will ..." and click Agree and Continue.
Step 2: Documentation. On step 2 you will fill out your business information, personal information, and upload a copy of the required documentation listed below.
Proof of Identification - A legible color copy of your current valid U.S. or Canadian driver's license.
Proof of Employment/Ownership – Acceptable documents to submit include: a current W-2 form (be sure to redact all but the last 4 social security number digits), a current pay stub, a current letter signed and dated by the HR department of the corporation identifying the employee by name and current work location, or a current dated legal business document listing the applicant as the owner of the company. Documents cannot be more than a year old and must confirm the applicant is a full time W-2 (not contracted/1099, W-4’s and W-9’s will not be accepted) employee of the business or confirm ownership.
Business License / Business Document - NASTF requires documentation to show your business is currently active and in good standing with your state. Examples of the documentation NASTF can approve include:
- Certificate of Good Standing from your Secretary of State for the business, signed and dated for the current year.
- A screenshot from your state or provincial website showing the business is active or in good standing with the date the image was captured.
- A business license issued by your city/county/state/province dated the current year.
- A sales tax certificate/permit from the city/county/state/province for your business, dated and signed for the current year.
- An annual tax return can also be accepted, dated and signed for the current year by a preparer.
Locksmith License - If you are a locksmith and your state requires a locksmith license you will need to provide a clear copy of the locksmith license for review. If you do not require a locksmith license, please skip uploading a document. If you are not a locksmith or operating as a mobile technician, you will not need to upload a locksmith license. The sub-account requirements are only necessary if you are intending to add employees under your primary account, which will be available after you've been approved for VSP credentials.
Certificate of Insurance - NASTF's insurance policy requires the certificate of insurance to be sent by the insurance agent. Please have your insurance agent email a copy of your current certificate of insurance to COI@nastf.org for review and include you on the message for confirmation of when the document is sent and received. NASTF requires Primary Account Holders to maintain at least a $1 million aggregate / $500,000 per event Commercial General Liability policy. Be sure to confirm the business name and address on all documentation matches the business name and address listed on the account and that NASTF, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 is listed as either the Certificate holder or as additionally insured.
Step 3: Professional references and Criminal History. Enter the first and last name of two professional references along with their phone number. Please note: References that are family or references that are companies with an 800 number and no contact name will be rejected.
Step 4: Payment.
Item | Amount | Term |
Application Fee | $100.00 | Two Year Renewal |
Primary Account | $325.00 | Two Year License |
Once you have submitted your application and it has been paid for, the NASTF Registry Management Team will review your account and notify you via email if there are any problems with your application or documents. This process takes 1-2 weeks to be approved.
Following your approval, you will receive further instructions on how to use your NASTF credentials.
If you have further questions, please submit a support ticket through support.NASTF.org. NASTF Support hours are Monday through Friday, 9AM to 6PM Eastern Standard Time.
