NASTF Account Types Description

Modified on Wed, May 28 at 5:47 PM

The National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF) is a collaborative, not-for-profit (501c6) association formed between automakers and independent aftermarket manufacturers to provide technicians, mechanics, and locksmiths with the credentials needed to access security-related automotive information and systems.

If you need to program keys, order security codes, or perform immobilizer resets, you must be registered in the NASTF secure registry database. Once approved, you’ll receive a universally recognized identification number and passcode, giving you seamless access to essential automotive operations.

Which Account Do You Need?

Before signing up, choose the account that fits your work:

1. AIR (Assisted Immobilizer Reprogramming) Account

  • For repair techs who need help from a NASTF provider to reprogram parts like ECM, BCM, or PATS.
  • No signup cost.
  • The first 5 jobs each year cost $45. After that, it's free.

2. VSP (Vehicle Security Professional) Account

  • Needed to program keys, get codes, or order parts linked to vehicle theft protection.
  • Requires an application with documents.
  • Costs $435 for 2 years.
  • Once approved, you’ll get a VSP ID to access secure car info from automakers.

Types of VSP Accounts

  • Primary Account
For lead techs. Can access secure car info and manage others. Must be with the car during service.

  • Subordinate Account
For shop techs who need secure info. Must be linked to a Primary VSP.

Subordinate accounts are only for W-2 employees in the U.S.

Canadian users must apply as Primary VSPs.

  • Administrative Account
Used by business owners or office staff. Cannot see secure data but can manage accounts and submit forms.
